KEEPING FIT DURING LOCKDOWN
With the nation on lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic,
understanding the different ways to stay fit and healthy is a need of
the hour. Most countries are now under lockdown, and people are
living a sedentary lifestyle. But fortunately, there are plenty of ways
you can stay fit at home by eating mindfully and working little
exercises into your daily life.
As coronavirus encourages the idea of social distancing, work from
home, or self-isolation. It is important to limit your sedentary
behaviour and take control of your health and well-being.
The best way to stay fit during this lockdown is to eat right. Each
meal is a building block of your health. Make sure to include all the
food groups in your diet. Get creative in the kitchen and take control
of your and your family’s food. The right choice of foods can help you
be healthier now and into the future. Try to make half your plate
filled with veggies and salad twice a day. Include whole grains and
lean protein on your plate. Try to add Greek yogurt, eggs, lean
protein, nuts, veggies, fruits, omega-3 to your diet. Bake or roast
instead of frying. Limit eating processed foods, sugary foods,
saturated fat, and sodium. Satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way
like having fresh fruit salad and drink plenty of water and stay
hydrated.
Another way to stay fit in this lockdown is to stay active. Let your
heart rate get up, and burn calories. Physical activity helps to keep
your immune system working effectively and thus plays a very
important role in preventing covid-19. It is important to have a
workout routine even if you are stuck at home. Try walking briskly
around the house, walk and talk, dance, do stairs and perform some
easy home exercises like air squats, push ups, crunches, jumping
jacks, hip bridge, lunges, mountain climbers. You can also watch and
workout through online fitness sessions conducted by trained
experts in exercise science. Try to workout at least 30 minutes daily
to experience minimal effects.
Covid-19 has turned people’s world upside down but that cannot be
used as an excuse to neglect health. Thus, it is very important to
maintain your diet , workout schedule and boost your immune
system to prevent this pandemic disease and stay healthy. We all are
in this together. So STAY HOME, STAY HEALTHY and let your health
not be victim.
